Are beauty pageants outdated?

A beauty pageant is a competition, which has traditionally been focused on the physical beauty of its contestants who traditionally wear stunning gowns and party sashes. The focus of a beauty pageant has evolved to also incorporate personality, intelligence and talent albeit they still wear stunning gowns and party sashes.
It’s surprising how the ‘prettiest’ of contestants can be placed down the pecking order when compared to another contestant who also has the looks but also demonstrates intelligence and personality. However, do you think that the beauty pageants should have gone out with the black and white TV’s? Let’s be honest the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show is technically a beauty pageant with its formula and it’s by far the best one in the world.
A lot of the beauty contestants tend to be: studying law, have worked for 10 different charities and supports world peace – is this a phony? Companies are trying to disregard the fact that it’s not just about the looks – they want to see someone who’s committed to their community, is selfless, has talents, intelligence, hobbies & who is overall the perfect fit for the crown.
The first beauty pageant was held in 1859 in Scotland, however we are not sure if the contestants wore a stunning gown and/or a party sash, but we do know pageants have been going strong a heck of a long time, but they seem to get more astonishing every year! By astonishing we’re talking mainly about child pageants. People insist they are just a bit of fun and they want to show their beautiful children off – but for some parents that’s not the case. It seems to be parents in these contests are always competing with other parents & they’re pushing their children to be ‘perfect’.
Another thing that infuriates mums and dads and even teenagers all over the world is children should not be wearing so much make-up, fake tan, eyelashes in some cases and so on. These children are having their childhood stripped away from them whether they’re enjoying it or not – some of the parents are so time committed to making sure that they win this contest (because they spend a fortune on it) - I’m sure they’re not stuffing their face with candy.
Aside from the child pageant dramas, in the UK they’re are beauty pageants highlighting talent all over now instead of just one big ‘Miss Great Britain’ which still is running, but women have got more chances now in their area.
